Sufficiency

When some people see the word "sufficiency" or "sufficient" they automatically relate it to the word "suffer." However, the word sufficiency is actually related to having enough. It mean having the amount needed. God tells us we have a sufficient amount of grace. It doesn't mean we are suffering but it means we are striving. He has given us enough grace to go through and deal with what torments us. We plead to God to take away what is harming us but He says we have everything we need. I have given you the grace to deal with it. This doesn't mean He is not going to to answer our prayers, it means that He is trying to do something inside of us to make us better.

Think of it like this, a child who is able to ask his parents for everything and the parents give the child everything. The child does not have to lift a finger. The child has no work ethic instilled in him, he doesn't know how to communicate with people, or help people. The only thing the child is focused on is what he doesn't have and what he wants. If this child were to go out into the real world, he would die.

God doesn't want us to fail in any every area. He has to instill in us things that are needed for when we start walking in the purpose He has for us. In the sufferings, we learn about our selfs. We learn our strengths and character. We also learn how to help others.
2 Corinthians 12:8-9 HCSB says, "Concerning this, I pleaded with the Lord three times to take it away from me. But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.”

We have to get to know the power of God in us. Sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes it takes something that torments us to show us we can overcome this thing because we CAN do all things through Christ who gives us strength.

Prayer:

Dear Lord,
Thank you so much for your grace. Thank you for being with us as you teach us the power that is in us when we received Christ. Please give us the strength to endure so that we will be made whole, so that we can help others. In Jesus name, Amen.
