It's Hot, So Eat Healthy

The summer heat can be very draining of physical energy in adults and children. In order to save your energy you must fuel with healthy foods. Ice cream and a nice, big glass of sugar coated Kool Aid is a quick way to cool off but it also weighs a person down.

The sugar in foods has to be broken down by the body and adding the heat from the sun is not fun. It equals to a tired person who is dragging their feet and can barely keep their eyes open. During the summer it is best to eat as less fatty foods and sugar as possible. An example meal plan is for breakfast maybe a bowl of oatmeal, or eggs with fruit. A lunch could be a nice grilled chicken salad or tuna salad with fat free crackers. A dinner could be chicken breast with steamed vegetables. A great dessert that is sherbet or yogurt parfait.

Some healthy snacks during the summer are a great protein shake, fruit, and a good health food bar like in the picture. A good way to keep up with what you are taking in is to write it down. A food diary helps to keep track of calories and sugars.

Remember, there is nothing better to quench a thirst like a nice, cool glass of water. Water will keep any one hydrated at all times of the year. Be blessed!
