How To Have A Less Painful Menstrual Cycle

We are what we eat. I know every one has heard this many times but the statement is very true. We as women can control our moods and energy by the food we eat. We can also control our monthly visitor called the menstrual cycle. This topic is very interesting and answers a lot of questions about why some months the cycle is perfect when other months are horrible. It is because of how we take care of ourselves.

The menstrual cycle happens because of our levels of estrogen. Estrogen is a steroid hormone naturally released by the ovaries. There are different types of estrogen but we are not going to get into all that. The point is if estrogen levels are low it is hard for women to get pregnant and have a monthly cycle. If they are too high then a lot of heavy and painful cycles may occur. It is also hard for women to get pregnant with high estrogen levels. There has to be a good balance of estrogen in our bodies. The balancing can be done naturally by eating the right foods. Below are ways to cut back on estrogen levels.

-Caffeine increases estrogen levels. Cutting back will help relieve breast tenderness during monthly cycles.
-Eat more chicken and fish. These meats have less fat in them. High levels of fat = high levels of estrogen.
-Stay away from a lot sugar and salt. Both of these affect fat levels which again affects estrogen.
-Eat more B vitamins. Eating more vegetables will help.
-Magnesium and Calcium are also needed for estrogen levels.
-Cranberries are very good for a woman's reproduction system.
-Adding more fiber will also help decrease estrogen levels.
-Exercising regularly helps burn fat which decreases estrogen levels.

Basically living a healthy lifestyle that includes a well balanced diet, exercise and worry free, will help balance estrogen levels. If you are a woman who has a healthy lifestyle but still having issues with the menstrual cycle, then you should pray about it and consider seeking a doctor.
