In Between Seasons

When I lay down in the bed at night, I envision how the next day is going to go. I think to myself:

I'm going to get up on time; get the kids up at this time; leave for work at this time and everything will be fine. Oh then at work I'm going to have a great day. I'm going to get laundry done and write a chapter or two. The kids are going to have a great day school. God is blessing me, I'm the head and not the tail. I am a child of God.

Let me tell you, I go through seasons where it seems like my day NEVER turns out like I planned. Something will happen to throw everything off track. It's like bad news keeps happening day after day, after day. Then to make matters worse, I log onto social media and everyone else SEEMS like they are living their best life. I then roll my eyes and log off. Then, people I encounter in real life outside of social media have everything going right for them too. Then I have a conversation with God:

God, when is it going to be my season for breakthrough? Why is nothing going right in my life? I feel so lost, please help!

God spoke to me and said you are in between breakthroughs. You are in between seasons. When I think of seasons, I think of shows, sports and weather. Lately, I have been anticipating the arrival of football, my favorite fall shows and the fall weather. While I wait, I'm preparing for the season to come by doing several things like googling the price of football tickets. I told my daughter to let me which high school Friday night games she would like to attend. I'm also saving for my ten year old son's growth spurt to buy him fall clothes. I'm preparing in the natural for the upcoming season.

When we are expecting and waiting on a new season spiritually, God said do the same thing, prepare. Why does God say this? Because that lost feeling that we feel is temporary. When it comes, it's not time for us to mope around and pull away from God but it's time to prepare. We are lost where we are because God is about to move us somewhere else. This the in between seasons' place. This is the place of waiting.

The scripture Isaiah 40:31(NKJV) says,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

When we are patient during the "in between seasons" of our lives, things will turn out for the better. Consequently, if we try to rush the next season on our own then the next season isn't going to be as beautiful. As I was typing this, I was envisioning rushing the arrival of the actual season of fall. I pictured someone dying the leaves of a tree brown, then trying to shake them off to the ground. The thought of someone doing this sounds crazy, and not as beautiful waiting on God to do it. The dye on the tree will fade away, plus when the real season comes the tree will be ruined.

When we wait on God for the next breakthrough season, we will come out wiser, with joy, peace and it will be long lasting. I believe more blessing will overflow because will know how much we trust Him. It's worth being patient in between seasons.
